Safe in Kenya

I just wanted to let you know that things are still unstable here, but we are all safe. We had to send about half the students home early today (because of where they lived) because of instability in the city. It is still the slum areas that are causing the major problems. Last night, a member of parliament was shot and killed outside his home. He was a member of Odinga's party (ODM), who is still fighting for the presidency. The tribes that supported Odinga killed many people in the beginning, but now the Kikuyus are retaliating and killing the people from the tribes that went after them in the beginning. The atmosphere is very tense and you never know what will happen. I am still in a safe part of town -- having the US Embassy and the UN as neighbors really helps.
